Dw.. that could be solved with adding a cool-down to using teleport and also making the teleport echo the players destination as he teleports. Razz

Sweet. Diablo teleporting rocked and Daria could use it well.

There should be some elitism [monetary terms?] in it, otherwise you'll get lots of noobs exploring and messing up highbie spawns ...and such.

How can a new player mess up a highbe's spawn?

This newbie vs highbe thing needs to go in my opinion.

There are some spawns that of course are for higher players but if enough new players were to group the would have a chance.. just like if a veteran ran into say 20 of the same monster that a newbie could take 1 on 1, that player should get his butt kicked.

I understand what you mean in general.. but as I originally said how I would like to see it personally is players pick up travel stones or ruins through loot (not common but not supremely rare) on humanoid monsters and such. Then they could use those ruins to travel to cities. There would be no warping to guilds or dungeons with 'my' idea.

I agree with the thing about solo Highbies taking on newbie swarms, in Akarra, a Highbie could take on whole swarms (30+) of Bloodpaw Lions (http://apedia.talonz.com/monsters.htm#25-49) - have his stamina drained in 10 seconds, but still kill everyone. I tried this.

Yea I agree, the only thing noobs will do would be to get themselves killed. Then the highbies can laugh at them.

Actually, it was ridiciously easy to lure monsters on other people with Akarra engine. Newbies can create hell to highbies by messing up spawns and getting everyone killed in the area. Monsters were made that way, perhaps the AI can be improved on that part, I don't know.

I was thinking...is it really necessary for highbies to be 1000x times stronger that newbies? Surely a less dramatic increase would be more logical and more realistic. I hate pwnage...its much more fun to be at a risk of at least taking damage from weak enemies. Say a level 100 char is 7x stronger than a level 10 character, i think that would be enough to be worth leveling for but not insanely strong either.

Well, my figures aren't very accurate, but i hope they are enough to suggest my meaning.

And as for teleporting, i think it should be very limited. It will take longer to get to where you want to go, but, i think it will give a better sense of a world with scale if long distances *do* take a longish time to traverse.

While we're at it, let's scrap levels and introduce a whole new 'power-rank' system. (No joke. Opinions?)
