Epic Quests (my definition) - One Time quests that are randomly stumbled upon by a certain fellowship based on their time and success together. If the fellowship disbands altogether without the quest being completed it goes back into the pool. These Epic quests could have the possibility of shaping or reshaping the world.

Very important.

I also feel they should have multiple possible solutions, so that the world can be shaped in the way that the quest solvers see fit.

Also important that they really can be done only once, don't want to see a walkthrough to epic quests.

Very important.

If this is done then I think there should be some way to rank the random quests in to certain levels. A fellowship of 5 with an average level of 15 would be unlikely to complete an epic quest meant for an average level 40 fellowship.

Also I agree on what Enq. said, multiple solutions would allow different approaches, which could turn out differently while still completing the quest.

These quests encourage teamwork and fellowships...a thing that is the most important thing in a mmorpg.

Yar yar, I'm just kinda expecting Daria's equivalence to the bread brothers to invite me to their fellowship so we can grind till we are offered an epic quest.

Of course, that's just by Kal's definition. Yet, I'm having problems thinking of a system where it won't be only powergamers that get these quests. Perhaps that is for the best, though...

Well folks, you must consider other elements that would go into it.

If you have a fellowship of 4-5 different factions its unlikely you would be given a quest that is to go after one of the players own factions. This would encourage faction partying as well as strike more of a divide between the factions as there should be for the most part.

@Enq - any concept that is developed always has a hundred ways to be abused and overused. There is nothing we can do as developers to consider every possible inconvenience or exploit without testing and making tweaks as we go Smile Which I am sure you knew.

Can't match beacause we are 2 oposite

Big supporter of getting people to do giant things in groups. It's what made akarra so much better than any other MMORPG; the fact that we were all a working community that (mostly) got on very well with everyone else. But it was lacking in lots of possibilities of ways to make people into groups ie: very few events, only fellowships and guilds that often caused the higher leveled people to lose vital exp (not the guilds they were fine), and no real reasons to train with others very much. An idea like this would reengage that fun community atmosphere.
