I think the feature of night/day is good but like Enq said, it would be very annoying for the screen to turn pitch black like it did in Akarra. It's never really pitch black in night so a little light is good.

Hey, midnight was only bad for xping purposes.. Besides in most dungeons you had to carry some light source around anyway.

When I was on my lil' PKing characters, midnight was my favourite time of.. err.. night Razz Disappearing into the darkness after a murder.. having guys on horses tracking you down, while you are trying to avoid to get caught in the light... Or having a zapper duel at midnight.. that was awesome! Smile

I agree with many, night should be dark but visible, also, like WiA, forms of light should be able for purchase from players and NPC's

Oh, I don't know... Midnight in Akarra really was the only time you could get away in a chase because your character was no longer shown on the screen.

No. Many games in history have tried this, and all have failed in this aspect. Best attempt was by Doom3 however, since they used full black colour to do the trick. Everyone else uses "shades" which can be get past with a simple program.

Thus why, this'd only add an easy advantage to those who know the trick; they'd see in dark just as if it was daytime, while those who didn't, would suffer. Pitch-black in Akarra style is the only viable option if you ask me. Then again, I know the trick, so.. Razz

Night in akarra was mostly visual.

Night in Daria will be more.

I think perhaps he means that we will have to use other senses than just our eyes to track monsters. Since touch (well if we were playing with those rumbly controllers for playstations then maybe possible but very hard to implement with a mouse) or taste or scent are probably out of the picture, then i think that sound may be what thewreck is hinting at.
I wonder how that will work...
Or perhaps they *have* got some tracking-by-scent ideas in the pipeline (but surely that would have to be represented visually somehow...:s ), that could be pretty cool too. : )
