I had an idea of how to deal with spammers. There could be a program running in the background of the game that would keep track of the chat messages. If a particular player chatted too often (four times/second) or stated the exact same message too many times, that person's name would turn purple, and he would be muted and or PKable.

Of course this idea would only work on stupid spammers that copied the same message over and over. It would be easily by-passed by simply adding something to the end of your copied message.

Or you could just have enough players click a 'label Spammer' button and select the noob to mute/kill him. This is abusable though.

I don't know about this i think it's better with a mute function

You type: /mute <name>
and that person is muted for one hour, i don't think it's good if you mute someone for ever. He may want to appologize or something even though i doubt it. But anyway, it is'nt too good to mute someone forever
The person who becomes muted must be informed about this
and when you mute someone you could also tell hell him why like this:
If you type:
"/mute <name> <comment>"
this is promted for the one who is muted
"<name> has muted you for one hour due to <comment>"

for example
"/mute Noob spam" >> "Dormeydo has muted you for one hour due to spam"

Not muted forever, that's a little extreme...

I like the idea of admin muting things though, although I'm quite sure that the admins won't be around all the time. It would be difficult to program an anti-spam system to define what is annoying spam and what isn't. Human judgement would be the best option. (but still not perfect)

Another interesting idea would be for an admin to send the alledged spammer to Spammer Isle where he can join his spamming friends and spam to their hearts delight. Spammer Isle would have various monsters on it that give exp and lvls and items... all of which would disappear once they were brought back to the mainland. Something like this would, at the very least, get rid of spammers for a set amount of time.

My stance in this matter remains: First fix the /ignore function so that it ignores the player in every aspect (/s as well as /t), then we'll see what's needed. -.-

I agree. If you could just outright ignore the player so you never get a single message from them, then you wouldn't have to mute them.

I have no problem with Daria or any of it's other staff. It was changed in response to his lies about fixing it, which he did NOT do.

Hey Mythalinear!
How goes it!
I never expected you here, and least of all starting this post!
But either way, good ideas, that's for sure!

What about zoned chatting? Each new region you enter is a new chat room sort to say. This would keep most chatting generalized and wouldn't have everyone in the world on the same channel. I agree there needs to be ignore/mute functions that 'work' and I am sure we will have them with the programming team we have Smile. No offense to the Akarra team as I didn't know them or their staff.

So zoned chatting? good or bad? (think WoW haha)
