This might be too complicated or make none or little difference.

The other day I was thinking about the polearm (or whatever it's called) is an axe and spear in one so I was thinking, if there is an axe mastery skill and a spear mastery skill you could use both of those on that weapon to do additional/different type of damage depending on the random skill of the two it picks from.

Again this is probably insignificant, but I thought it'd be cool.

And by combinating your own skills with axes and spears, you could use a polearm as an axe, slicing through random animals.
Or, if you are strong enough, you could use polearm as a throwing axe or a javelin (alternate spear).

Good call, with this system, you'll be able to level up both skills at the same time! What a nice time saver, you don't even have to use a specific weapon class to level the corresponding skill up. That's not even mentioning the dual use of such a weapon. Say I use the halberd, classified a hybrid of axe/spear. I fight a cavalier, which is susceptible to spears, but strong against axes. In this case, I have no downside as I would be able to use the spear skill of the halberd and not have to worry about its downside.
I doubt the devs would implement such a feature.

I think its cool idea, but too powerful.

If when you used the 2 skills at once, you onle used half of both. .5 + .5 = 1 That wouldn't be too powerful or too weak.

Oh, i meant more of maybe different damage like axe is cutting and spear piercing does different damage to different monster armor type... then again it might not work.

I really think the devs should try it, the idea could work really well and be more realistic.

If the game is based on specific weapon class skills - Yes, good idea.
If the game is based on just one skill, no specific weapons - There's no use in it.

I'd rather have the second, no doubt at that. If they do though, use the specific weapon class skills, it's a very good idea.

But i hope you do realise that this would make one specific class weapons less useful and less used then one with two.
If those hybrid weapons with two weapon skills were weaker then those that with one weapon skill, then you got my support.

Avaith also has a good point. If a weapon with one weapon skill would take say, 3000 points to *level up*, then a weapon with two weapon skills, for the sake of it not being overpowered, would take 6000 points for both skills. This way you get two skills the double of the time it takes with one skill, while the weapon with one skill could still get 2 level ups in the same skill for just the same period of time.

Also seeing everyone running around with hybrid weapons, is totally, boring.
