Homepage Preview

With the layout competition over, we present to you, a preview of the homepage. It is a combination of both winners with a good addition of our own graphics and touches. We are currently working hard behind the scenes to get it working and hopefully it shouldn't be too long before you can enjoy it for real.

Version 1
http://www.dawnofdaria.com/forum/images/devmonday/homepage.jpg
Version 2
http://www.dawnofdaria.com/forum/images/devmonday/homepage2.jpg

The ads section will be google text ads with a fitting theme to fit the page.

(on a side note, kinten is moving down to lund in week! It wont be long now until we get this show on the road for real.)

(added another version)

IMHO... It's way too dark, and doesn't match the logo image well.

The border around the main content area reminds me a lot of an old EGA game with those red, orange, and green colors. It doesn't fit very well.

Also, the text/links in the rounded rectangles on top need to be brighter so they can be read easily.

Also, the background patterns do not make much sense. I'm not sure whether or not the main content area is suppose to resemble some sort of rug, or what the whole page's background is suppose to be.

In sort, there doesn't seem to be any unifying "theme."

I do like the rope look of the background, though I think it should be brighter.

Final outcome may change.

Critiques are welcome.

1. By making the site darker, the logo stands out better.
2. The border is nice... I think it works well. Sometimes contrast is a good thing.
3. They gray font is just a place holder. -Notes the other gray lettered labels-
4. The rug-type background matches the cloth-like theme.
5. Unifying theme: Medieval cloth-work (That's probably completely wrong).
6. If the rope was lighter, it would bring out the detail, causing it stand out too much.
