Loraselos : In fact, that is what Project New Horizons was meant to do. A 3D game and then a 2D one based off the 3D models. Still.. it may be quicker just to make the 2D flat models.

it doesnt matter how simple it gets. just to load up maya and load up a model and mayby remodel it a little, fix the UV texture map, change the texture on a weapon (open photoshop, change the texture, save the texture)and render it and spritecap it would take alot longer than opening photoshop, changing the sprite and saving it as a new one.

And, you are forgetting, if we have to make the charachters in 8 directions and walking and attacking and dying, you have to make the monsters in 8 directions walking and attackig and dying. Unless you want the monsters to 'bounce' or float around, you gotta do skeletal animations for each monster, and just UV texture map for each monster would take longer than making 5 new monsters in 2d.

Graphics is just for people without imagination. Razz I love the Akarra graphics and I'm sure that I will love Daria's graphics as well.

Well , I have imagination and i think that animation would do the game some good. Nothing too complex though, and it has to look ok.

Well, I just thought 8-directional sprites would look awesome on such a small scale, but I understand were you all are coming from.

I kinda like the non-animated sprites.
It reminds me of a cardboard cutout you would use to play D&D with. Very Happy

Well... what about very basic sprites? Like attacking, blocking and sitting/laying down? Transition sprites wouldn't even be necessary...

Attacking: At rest - Weapon out - At rest
Defending: At rest - Sheild out - At rest
Resting: At rest - Laying/Sitting - At rest...

Those basic sprites will still need to be drawn with every single character model, weapon, armour and colour... Huge work
