|Okay things can really be compressed further than they currently are. The front page loads at over 200kb. Every five visitors, you're going to experience 1mb of bandwith. :\ This picture: http://www.dawnofdaria.com/gfx/mage.gif is very small, though almost 138kb due to the animation... 57 frames with the whole set of 256 colors and without using any of the nice overlays. Saving optimized in image ready should reduce the file size of something like that a whole lot. Not everything needs to be in .gif. The banner at the top would be very well suited as a jpg. Gifs are bad for gradients (color transitions you probably know), and you can definately see some in the light rays.
hehe Couple things... It would be killer if the layout was based on sprites used from in the game. Maybe use some of the sprites from the town/forest found the the publically released screenshots. The sprite in the bottom left is really awesome and it would look very nice if you could fit it in with a sprite based layout. Using existing sprites to give new visitors a better understanding about how nice the graphics of DoD, and set they mood for the players of what kind of game DoD really is. ^^
This is just an example lol... For the background, you could maybe have a repeating forest background. At the top instead of the mountains have it transition from the forest background into a town and have a nice styled "Dawn of Daria" over the town, that both doesn't detract away from the town but is visible... And then figure out what to do with the menus.
Using gifs in that kind of layout would greatly reduce loading speeds, especially if you were to split your images.
But now seeing as I suggested that it probably won't be used. xD
This... This must be a nightmare! Those eyes... It's like looking into the eyes of the diablo!
