Nice, very nice. But it's hell difficult to see DoD if you don't know it's there =) imho the one with clouds (4th) is the best.

As an experienced Photoshopper I have some constructive criticisms which you may find helpful.

First off, kudos for having a good idea and running with it.

I have to say, though, it seems like you're trying to do too much with the image itself (i.e. the evil PS lens flare - good for some things, but rarely). I also don't think the center 'map' piece fits in with the overall work. A good logo will be simple and use as few colors as possible while still maintaining definition and clarity.

The way you have the "DoD" positioned inside each other is intriguing but rather abstract for the purpose. People shouldn't need to do a double-take to recognize a logo.

I would also take into consideration the composition as other users have stated. Try to think of it as a real object instead of a 2D drawing.

I'll post an example of what I mean in a moment just to give you an idea.

For more help you should check out www.PhotoshopTechniques.com

Edit: Here's something I threw together in a few mins just to show you what I mean. Gotta go to work now. Peace.

Re-Edit: I had some free time, so I spent a little over an hour on this one. Hope it proves helpful. Smile

Re-Re-Edit: (heh.. I said "re-re"... ahem.. moving on...)
I had to touch up some things that were bugging me.. and I figured out what I was trying to do with the inlaid 'gems'. Anyhow, that is all.

In the last 2 images I posted, there is something inherently wrong. Can you find it? (I'd give away a prize, if I had one - but, you'll get the satisfaction of knowing what a smart cookie you are ;P )

Sorry about the double-post.

Firstly, let me start by saying those images are awesome. I don't see what the error is... unless it's that people might mistake the second 'd' for a 'p'.

One problem I see is with the shading on the 'wooden' parts... Assuming the light source is from above the image and up a bit, then that side of the raised image should be well lit, not shadowed. Like BH said. Awesome images.

I have no problem with Daria or any of it's other staff. It was changed in response to his lies about fixing it, which he did NOT do.

Thank you very much! I don't play with wood in PS much, so this was a pretty good learning experience. I usually play with metals and glass. I apparently need more practice with wood.

Actually, The darker shading on the 'wooden' piece was supposed to be dark to make the wood look older, possibly even burnt slightly. I just thought the wood looked too clean in the first one. If you look closely, you'll see the shading from the light is in the correct place.

However, 'lighting' is definitely part of the answer I'm looking for, but that's the only hint I'm gonna give. ;P

P.S. Yeah, I thought about the 'P' thing, which is why I exaggerated the serifs a bit, guess it didn't cut it.

Isn't it.. Light passing through gems is supposed to be coloured, right?
