|Development during week 2-2007
During this week we continued our work on the design document, adding more skills and changing the rules for ranged combat. We decided that ranged combat should be calculated by physically moving the projectile and check whether it hits something on the way. If it hits anything damage would be calculated based on the projectile's velocity and mass. Complicated, yes, but allows a number of different attack modes.
We have also worked on the tileset system. The game is limited to a maximum of 16 tilesets, which is not enough for the whole game world. We have solved this by adding tileset "palettes" for different areas. We also made an editor that we can use to change tile-based game information, such as speed modifiers and sound effects.
Thewreck has also made new desert artwork and the writers have been busy naming items and locations.
Planned development during week 3-2007
We have begun working a little on buttons and pressure plates in the area editor. It would be fun to see this in action, so we will attempt to implement this during next week.
