Night in akarra was mostly visual.

Night in Daria will be more.

I think perhaps he means that we will have to use other senses than just our eyes to track monsters. Since touch (well if we were playing with those rumbly controllers for playstations then maybe possible but very hard to implement with a mouse) or taste or scent are probably out of the picture, then i think that sound may be what thewreck is hinting at.
I wonder how that will work...
Or perhaps they *have* got some tracking-by-scent ideas in the pipeline (but surely that would have to be represented visually somehow...:s ), that could be pretty cool too. : )

I agree with Budman, pitch black makes the game more fun when its dark and its more realistic.

maybe make enchanted goggles or somehting that would let you see in the dark better. Or instead of making it pitch dark, use some real world physics. For instance, if your standing around a campfire, your visibility is greatly reduced. But if your standing around in the dark, your eyes will begin to adjust to the avaliable light, and you will begin to see clearly. Maybe make it a skill, for instance a ranger is better at figuring out in the dark through sight and hearing, while a knight in full plate isn't gonna be able to hear jack, and won't be accustomed to seeing in the dark.

And about using scent or something to track, i wanna get a pet wolf that can be used as like a bloodhound, and track down the people im hunting Twisted Evil
